Michael Schaepe is currently a Senior Research Engineer
at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology at the Georgia Institute
of Technology. Michael has worked at the Institute for more than 16 years
where he has served as Paper Physics Group Leader and presently manages
corrugating and container research.
Michael earned a B.S. degree in Environmental
Science at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1978 graduating
cum laude. Michael completed
28 semester hours of post graduate coursework in Environmental Science
from 1979–1983 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and 9 semester
hours of post graduate coursework in Paper Science and Engineering at
IPST from 1990–2001.
An active TAPPI member, Michael is Chairman of the Corrugated Board
Technical Services Committee and serves on the Fiberboard Shipping Container
Testing Committee. Michael chaired the Technical Papers Session of the
2003 TAPPI International Corrugated Conference.
Research Summary
Michael manages corrugating and container research, and corrugating,
converting and papermaking pilot facilities. His research activities
include containerboard runnability, adhesive behavior, specialty material
converting, and combined-board converting and performance.
