George Washington

The Miliani Mill made this portrait watermark of George Washington in recognition of the bicentennial celebration of his birth (1732-1932). George Washington's portrait is seen in profile, or from a side view, in the watermark. This watermark was modeled after a bust of Washington done by Jean-Antoine Houdon. She was a famous French sculptor who did the piece while visiting Mount Vernon in 1785. Houdon's profile is said to have been one of Washington's favorites.
