SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Carry out medium and long range projects in the Product Development department at NewPage Research Center located in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Primary focus will be on new and innovative product developments for coated papers, i.e., fine, publishing, specialty and digital papers, along with supercalendered (SCA) papers. Technical assistance in product and process optimization of these mills will be emphasized.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform complex projects involving Product Development. Projects focus on product features, papermaking (i.e., forming, pressing, drying, coating application, finishing, etc.), paper coating formulations and materials, quality and pressroom performance. Primary work will be directed toward satisfying mill requirements.
Perform as project leader or co-leader on projects of significant complexity and scope including organizing, completing, and reporting on projects.
Participate as project team member and assist other Research personnel in carrying out projects.
Provide consulting services to the mills and other departments in area(s) of specialization to assist in problem solving.
Apply scientific or engineering knowledge to problem solving.
Evaluate and interpret results of project work. Write complete and timely reports of project findings.
Interact with mill, purchasing and vendors in raw material and equipment evaluations and developments.
May supervise the work of technician(s) as well as scientist(s) and engineer(s) including planning and scheduling work, providing training, approving absence requests and conducting performance reviews.
Participate in Research safety programs; ensure good housekeeping in labs and pilot plant.
Represent the company with appropriate professional and technical associations.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

grade product development projects. This position reports directly to
Omya's North American Product Development Manager. Omya is actively developing new grades for both filler and coatings grade applications.

General Responsibilities:
To develop Unidyne business, provides technical service to customers and support Daikin America, Inc. Sales Department. Travels to customers' sites, and PRs Unidyne's technology, tests and evaluation results, and promptly meets customers' needs. Qualifications:
At least a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Fiber/Textile Chemistry or related scientific field from an accredited university/college, and at least 5 years of industrial experience preferably with fluorochemicals for treating fabrics and carpets or other related products.
Ability to use PC's and corresponding software packages as tools for the job.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); abilities to develop reports and reference documents to submit to customers, as well as to have positive discussions with customers during visits, and express one's ideas clearly.

GL&V USA has an opening for a Hydrocyclone Service Engineer with the Cleaner Product Team. The position will assist in supporting the Southern Region (specifically the Central Gulf States ) and will report to the Business Manager, Cleaner Product Group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support customers by attending mill shut downs and evaluating mechanical soundness of the systems in question.
Provide objective service reports to mills and generate recommended spare parts list used as the basis for aftermarket parts quotes/system upgrades
Provide services directed towards effective system optimization by conducting mill audits, recommending operating parameter modifications, and upgrade recommendations.
Generate new capital projects through effective mill trials that will result in realistic capital proposals through ROI analysis.
Will maintain Outlook based itinerary, generate service reports, make product upgrade recommendations, and offer ideas for new product development.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must be highly Process and Mechanically oriented.
Five (5) years in the Pulp and Paper industry or equivalent education.
Ability to travel approximately 70% (most travel is day travel).
Ability to relocate to the Central Gulf area (MS, LA, AR).
Extensive process knowledge related to pulp/paper machine wet end approach systems.
Understanding of mass balances and ability to learn and perform wet end audits with minimal supervision.
Ability to generate new Capital Projects through trials, data collection and analysis.
Mechanical aptitude with ability to evaluate system soundness through physical inspection.
